Three successive weeks, the market was on the losing trend. The market opened with a optimistic start last week on the back of sliding oil prices, strong rupee and positive global cues. The Sensex finally closed the week gaining 574 points or 2.84% at 20791 while the Nifty ended with a gain of 180 points or 3% at 6176 as investors got into a short covering and bargain hunting in front line stocks led by banking, capital goods, auto, reality, metal among others. Persistent funds flow during the week from the FIIs too boosted the market sentiment.
